Burning the right wood makes a real difference. Poor-quality or wet logs produce less heat, generate more smoke and cause creosote to build up in your flue far more quickly. We supply two types of hardwood logs to suit different needs and budgets.
Kiln-dried logs are processed in a specialist kiln to bring moisture content below 20%, the level recommended by HETAS and Woodsure for use in stoves and open fires. With less moisture in the wood, more of the energy from combustion goes directly into producing heat rather than evaporating water. The result is a hotter, cleaner, more efficient burn with minimal smoke and tar production. Kiln-dried logs are ready to use straight away, with no additional drying time required.
Seasoned logs have been naturally air-dried for a minimum of 12 months, bringing moisture content down to an acceptable level for burning. They represent a cost-effective alternative to kiln-dried wood and burn well when stored correctly. Seasoned logs are best stored in a dry, well-ventilated log store to maintain their condition prior to burning.
Both options are sourced from hardwood species such as ash, oak and beech, which produce a steady, long-lasting burn with high heat output.

Enquire About Firewood LogsThe fuel you burn has a direct impact on the performance and longevity of your stove and flue system. Wet or unseasoned wood is one of the most common causes of poor stove performance and excessive creosote build-up.
When wood with a high moisture content is burned, a significant proportion of the energy produced is wasted on evaporating that moisture. This reduces heat output, produces excessive smoke and encourages the formation of creosote in your flue liner. Over time, creosote build-up increases the risk of chimney fires and can cause damage to your liner.
By burning kiln-dried or properly seasoned hardwood with moisture content below 20%, you protect your flue system, reduce the frequency of required chimney sweeping and get significantly more heat from every log. It is the single most effective habit change you can make as a stove owner.
